BRENTWOOD, Pa.; May 31, 2026 – The 70th Annual Brentwood High School All-Sports Banquet was held May 27 to celebrate the 2025-26 student-athletes and teams. The festive dinner and awards ceremony was hosted by the Brentwood High School Athletic Boosters.

Student-athletes from Brentwood’s 20 teams were recognized, with students receiving their letters, special awards and Most Valuable Players being announced. (Brentwood is part of co-op girls soccer and wrestling teams with Baldwin HS and a co-op hockey team with Carrick HS.)

A total of 41 Scholar-Athletes were lauded, including 15 freshmen and 11 sophomores. Students must participate in two or more sports and maintain a cumulative 3.50 grade-point average to be eligible.

The Senior Scholar-Athlete Awards were presented to Emma Simmons (Cheer, Flag Football) and Connor Dusch (Golf, Boys Swimming).

Special awards were presented to senior Cedric Davis, Jr., quarterback of the football team, for eclipsing 4,000 passing yards and junior girls swimmer Fawn Brendel, who broke her own school record in the 100 Buttterfly six times this season and earned the Spartans’ highest finish in a WPIAL Girls’ individual swimming event in at least 20 years.

The track and field team presented awards for earning the most points during the season, with Cedric Davis, Jr. winning for the boys and freshman Tommie Sheets for the girls.

The evening culminated with the awards honoring the Spartan’s top Male and Female Student-Athletes for 2025-26 – the Lady Spartan Award and the Mark Reider Award.

Senior Taffsira Garba-Gambari, who lettered in girls volleyball, basketball, track and field and flag football and earned two team MVP accolades this year, won the Lady Spartan Award. Brentwood has recognized its top female athlete since 1976 with one of the school’s highest athletic honors. Last year, the longtime “Booster Award” was re-named the “Lady Spartan Award” to better reflect the tradition, pride, and spirit of Brentwood’s female student-athletes. The Lady Spartan Award represents far more than victories, statistics or athletic accomplishments. It honors determination, leadership, teamwork, and the relentless drive to improve — not only herself, but everyone around her. This award recognizes a student-athlete who truly embodies what it means to be a Lady Spartan.

Senior Connor Dusch, who was the MVP of the Golf and Boys Swimming squads, was the Mark Reider Award recipient. The Mark Reider Award has been presented since 1967 to the top senior male athlete. This award is named in honor of Mark Reider, a Brentwood physical education teacher and coach who worked tirelessly in the best interests of the students and athletes around him. His dedication, leadership, and genuine care for young people earned him tremendous respect and admiration throughout the Brentwood community. Tragically, on February 26, 1967, Mark lost his life in a car accident while returning from a college visit where he had been helping a student pursue a scholarship opportunity.
