Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17) is a time to celebrate, uplift, and empower Black mothers, while also addressing the urgent disparities they face in healthcare. While the data is grim, this week is also about hope, healing, and honoring the strength of Black women.

Across the country, Black doulas, midwives, and community health
advocates are creating spaces where Black mothers feel seen, safe, and supported. These birth workers are reclaiming traditions and changing outcomes.
This week is about more than statistics— it's about stories. The story of the mom who fought to be heard. The grandma passing down wisdom about childbirth.
The advocate turning her pain into purpose. It's also about the next generation-ensuring that our daughters don't face the same risks and injustices.
Let's use this week to:
- Share stories of strength and resilience.
- Connect expecting moms with resources and support systems.
- Educate ourselves and others about the disparities Black mothers face.
- Celebrate the beauty and power of Black motherhood.
Black Maternal Health Week is both a movement and a celebration. Let's make sure we honor it fully.
