Public libraries have played a vital role in shaping our nation and continue to serve as a refuge for people across the country. A new documentary explores how this powerful idea transformed a country and honors the quiet revolutionaries behind it.
The Sewickley Public Library is teaming up with The Lindsay Theater to host an advanced screening of the Independent Lens documentary Free for All: The Public Library, bringing the film to the Sewickley community.
The documentary highlights the groundbreaking women who led the “Free Library Movement” and the librarians of today who continue to serve the public despite facing challenges like library closures and book bans. It’s a tribute to those who built this civic institution where everything is free, and everyone is welcome.
Attend the advanced screening on Monday, April 7, at 7:00 p.m. at The Lindsay Theater, followed by a discussion and Q&A session led by the Sewickley Public Library. All are welcome to attend!
Admission is free. Advanced tickets are required and can be reserved at https://thelindsaytheater.org/films/free-for-all-the-public-library/.
