Fern Hollow Nature Center's next Fiddlehead Club program will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 20th, from 10 am to noon. Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will spend the morning learning about Dr. King's environmental justice movement and modern conservation efforts, especially his focus on clean water. This event is $16 for members and $22 for the public. Scholarships are available. Click HERE to register.
The Fiddlehead Club was created to provide environmental education and socialization opportunities for homeschoolers and local students on In-Service Days. The Club offers unique, nature-based experiences, including mini-lessons, a hike, outdoor play time, crafts, games, experiments, and more. Upcoming sessions are Maple Sugaring on February 28th, a spring hike on March 21st, and fishing on April 18th.
Fern Hollow is a non-profit nature center located at 1901 Glen Mitchell Road in Sewickley Heights Borough. It has upheld its mission to inspire people of all ages to appreciate the environment through educational programs and opportunities to discover the natural resources of the Sewickley Valley parks. Located on roughly 33 acres of land, Fern Hollow is the home of the first Natural Outdoor Classroom in Pennsylvania. It regularly hosts environmental educational programming for nature lovers of all ages.
