The Bethel Fife and Drum Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution honored four high school seniors at its May meeting with the DAR Good Citizen Award. Receiving certificates and honorariums were Sophiko Chumburidze of Mt. Lebanon High School, Tyler Wendt from South Park High School and John Rainone of Upper St. Clair High School. Award recipient not in attendance was Sydney Athanas of Seton-LaSalle Catholic High School.

Rainone was selected as Bethel Fife and Drum Chapter’s DAR Good Citizen.

This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who exemplify the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their schools and communities. The students are selected by their teachers and peers.

Once a student is chosen as their school’s DAR Good Citizen, the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and essay. Scholarships are awarded at the state, division and national levels.

Cindy Reyes and Lynn Alkhoury made the president’s list at Southern New Hampshire University for the spring 2025 semester.

Olivia Amatangelo graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor of science in exercise and sport science.

La Monte Yarroll was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Syracuse University.

Christian Frazier graduated with a doctor of chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Florida campus on March 27.

Cory Hardinger was named to the 2024 fall trimester dean’s liist at Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Florida campus.

Twelve cadets from Slippery Rock University’s U.S. Army ROTC program were recognized for their commissioning as officers with the rank of second lieutenant. They were officially commissioned and took their oaths at a private ceremony on campus on May 9, before a public oath reading at SRU’s commencement ceremonies on May 10, when they graduated and received their bachelor’s degrees. Among them was David Lucidore, a park and resources management major who will serve as an Infantry officer on active duty.

Alexandria M. Wittig earned a master of accountancy degree in forensic accounting from The University of Scranton.

Alyssa Faith Vetere earned a bachelor of science from the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Maddie Love graduated May 10 from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor of arts in education: inclusive elementary.

Kaitlyn Campagna graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with high honors with a bachelor of arts from the University of Texas at Austin.
