Debra Lynn "Charlie" Kukalis, 63, of East Vandergrift, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Born Oct. 14, 1960, in Stevens Point, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Harley J. And Bennie Justus Lichtenwalner. She was a veteran of the Navy, having served during peacetime. Charlie was a member of the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard, Vandergrift American Legion Post 114, East Vandergrift Slovak Club and the Bari Club. She enjoyed trips to the beach, attending family get-togethers and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Tiffani (Alex) Dickun, of McIntyre; her stepson, Joshua (Jennifer) Kukalis, of St. Mary's, Ga.; her significant other, Mark Cumberledge, of East Vandergrift; two stepsons, Stephen (Lauren) Cumberledge, of Chesapeake, Va., and Colin (Megan) Cumberledge, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her mother-in-law, Bernadette Kukalis, of East Vandergrift; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Bruce) Fuchs, of Merrimac, Wis.; and a brother, Karl Lichtenwalner, of East Vandergrift; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Mark Kukalis; and her grandson, Derek Cumberledge. At the request of the family there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Vandergrift Cemetery with her husband.
