Marinne Gustafson Renton, of Murrysville, died peacefully at her home recently. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania April 16, 1945, to the late Corinne R. Hawke and Martin L. Gustafson. Since she was a child, Marinne wanted to be a teacher while playing school with her sister, Linda. She fulfilled that desire and spent a lifetime dedicating herself to her students. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania completing her Bachelor of Science degree in world language education with a concentration in French and later achieved her master's degree. She began her career teaching in the Peters Township School District and soon after moved to a position in the Hempfield Area School District. She taught at the junior high and the high school levels and served as department chair. Marinne was highly respected and much loved by her students and colleagues throughout her dedicated 34 years of teaching. Upon retirement she then continued inspiring future teachers of World Languages as an adjunct professor and University Supervisor for field experiences for the Department of Instruction and Learning at the University of Pittsburgh. Surviving are two sisters, Linda (Ray) Scott, of Penn Hills, and Debra Winters, of Indiana, Pa. She has two nieces, Sarah (Drew) Tepe, of Cranberry Township, and Wendy Scott, of Pittsburgh; and a nephew, Jeff Roumm, of Baltimore, Md.
