Jack graduated from Pitcairn High School in 1947 and served with the U.S. Army in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War until his discharge in September of 1953. Following his military service, Jack worked for BAR Development, driving heavy equipment for a successful developer of commercial and residential real estate in the Pittsburgh area until his retirement. Jack was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pitcairn, eventually becoming a long-time member of Level Green United Presbyterian Church. Nature photography was his passion, taking thousands of photographs and many movies over the last 75 years. After retirement, Jack and Marilyn traveled throughout the US and Europe, often visiting their daughters and their families. Jack was always positive about his long, healthy life and how lucky he had been in his lifetime. His family is grateful to the staff of St. Mary's Woods assisted living and Our Lady of Hope health care center for their care since his move to Richmond, Virginia in 2021.
