Esther J. 'Peg' Sherbondy, 96, of West Newton, died Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was born on May 8, 1928, in Rostraver Township, to the late Joseph and Elsie (Baird) Lynn. She was a member of the former Wyano United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Women's Friendship Circle. Peg is survived by her daughters, Caren Blackson, Wendy Cameron, and her husband, James, and Beth Codick, and her husband, Kevin; her granddaughter, Jamie Baker, and her husband, Eric; and her great-grandsons, Allie and Lucian Baker. She is also survived by her sisters, Lois Demko and Sue Conway; and her sister-in-law, Daryl Osterwise. In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, David Sherbondy; her sister, Sylvia Hare; her brother, James Lynn; and her son-in-law, Dale Blackson. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, June 12, in the J WILLIAM MCCAULEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Vine St., West Newton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 13, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Mill Grove Cemetery.
