Laurel Ann Kolcun Staniszewski, 70, of Plum Borough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. She was born April 25, 1954, in Homestead, to the late Alexander and Lillian Pudleiner Kolcun, was a 1972 graduate of Steel Valley High School as valedictorian, and a1974 graduate of Wilma Boyd Career School. Mrs. Staniszewski was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington. She was travel consultant for Commerce Travel, A-B-C Travel, Ask Mr. Foster and American Express Corporate Travel. She also served as an independent sales representative for Signature Homestyles for a number of years. Laurel enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband, Lenny, and competed at an amateur level with him until the mid 1980's, when she began raising her family. She was an excellent party planner, making memories in her children's home rooms and their birthday parties at home, becoming and amateur artist and designing decorations and posters of Mario, Pokemon and Disney Princesses, to name a few. She also enjoyed reading, scrapbooking and doting on her grandchildren. She was a liver transplant recipient in 1996, with amazing results with no significant complications, affording her and her family many years of laughter and love, far beyond what was anticipated when she received this gift of life. Surviving are her loving husband of 41 years, Leonard 'Lenny' Staniszewski; adoring children, Adam (Erika Suni) Staniszewski of New Orleans, Matthew (Carly) Staniszewski of Baden and Alana Staniszewski, Esq., of Seven Fields; cherished grandchildren, Theodore and Robin Staniszewski of New Orleans; and beloved twin sister, Linda S. Kolcun of Munhall. Viewing will be Friday, July 19, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held Saturday, July 20, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 857 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp.
