Harry Babiak, 92, of Jeannette, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, in Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born June 11, 1932, in Jeannette, a son of the late Mike and Helen (Winnick) Babiak. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Elliott Company, and he was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving with the US Navy. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and American Legion Post 344, both of Jeannette, Tin Can Sailors, and the USS Benham 796 Alumni Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette (Franks) Babiak; a sister, Mary Scalzetti; and two brothers, Mitchell and John Babiak, He is survived by his three daughters, Marlene Sweeney (Larry), Diane Heasley (Scott), and Cathy Dengler (Bob); two grandsons, Nathan Hutchinson and Adam Hutchinson (Jordan); and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Tuesday, in Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette, with Fr. Job Foote as celebrant. Interment with military rites will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
