An updated intersection at Prestley Road and Charlet and Perret streets in Bridgeville is aimed at improving drivers’ visibility and calming traffic, borough officials say.

Bridgeville Manager Joe Kauer said the borough has been working with PennDOT traffic engineers since late last year for a plan to fix the intersection.

“The need was to calm traffic entering Charlet Street and improve visibility for those exiting Charlet and Perret Streets,” Kauer said.

That plan included a revised way for the intersection to be marked, Kauer said. Bridgeville’s public works department restriped where motorists should stop at the end of Charlet Street, relocated the existing stop sign and painted a bump-out on Prestley Road.

The hope is for vehicles to slow down before turning on Charlet Street and to take the street with a slight turn, instead of cutting across closely to cars exiting Perret Street.

Costs, which only included line painting by borough employees, were minimal, Kauer said.
