Here are some of the latest news items from this morning, Tuesday, June 9:
North Park pool opening delayed
The swimming pool at North Park will see a delayed opening this year, Allegheny County officials announced Monday.
The county converted the chlorine and filtration systems at the popular pool during the off-season. When staff turned the systems on, malfunctioning valves pushed sediment into the water, leaving the entire pool cloudy.
County officials said they ordered new parts for the 90-year-old pool and hope to complete repairs in time to open by the end of the week.
Anyone with a county pool season pass can use the other pools at Boyce Park, Settlers Cabin Park and South Park.
Fallen tree blocks PRT rail line
A fallen tree blocked a portion of Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s Library Line on Tuesday morning.
Shuttle buses are operating from Library to Lytle, the transit authority said in a social media post.
Rail cars will ferry people from Lytle to Washington Junction.
