Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Bishop Mark Eckman ordained five men to the priesthood during a Mass of Ordination on June 27 at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland.

The new priests and their home parishes are Brian M. Myler of Holy Family Parish, Erik L. Pintar of St. Paul Cathedral Parish, Matthew S. Selzer of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Van Loc Tran of Divine Redeemer Parish and Nicholas P. Wytiaz of St. Pio of Pietrelcina parish.

“Today, the Church of Pittsburgh rejoices with you, welcomes you into the priesthood and celebrates with you and your family as we give thanks to God for having called you and brought you to this day,” Eckman said during the three-hour ceremony. “I hope that you realize that you are here today because God has called you.

“Your ordination today is a response to God who chose you and called you for the service of his people. Following the example of Christ, you listened, said yes to God the Father and accepted to do God’s will even with the sacrifices just as St. Paul tells us Jesus did.”
