Alma E. Derringer, 91, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She was born in Natrona Heights on July 28, 1932, to the late Ernest and Dorothy 'Gladys' Keefe Bowser, and lived most of her years in New Kensington. Alma is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Louis G. Derringer; children, Debra Ann (Edward) Alvarez, Mark L. Derringer and Brian R. (Stephanie) Derringer; grandchildren, Mark Pruger, Emily (Nick) Contrael, Jonathan and Michael Derringer; step-grandchildren, Josh, Aaron, Isaiah (Amanda) Alvarez and Sarah (Chad) Carlson; five great-grandchildren, and siblings, George (Shirley) Bowser, Erith Cobb, Carl Bowser and Grace (Tom) Haney. She enjoyed traveling to the House by the Sea in Ocean Grove, NJ, Old Bridge Village in Ft. Myers, FL, and Nemacolin. She enjoyed many picnics and celebrations with her family. An accomplished pianist and organist, she played for many local churches, including the First United Methodist in Springdale and First Baptist in New Kensington, where she also enjoyed performing concerts, showcasing her skills. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Allan Derringer; a brother, Ernest Bowser; and sister, Dorothy Miller. Private viewing, and services, officiated by Rev. Dean Ward, were held in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME in New Kensington. Private burial was in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Borough.
