Terrance A. 'Deets' Kuhns, 67, of New Kensington, passed away at his home on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born Nov. 2, 1956, in Harrison Township to the late Thomas A. and Alice B. (Black) Kuhns, Sr. He lived most of his life in New Kensington and Tarentum. Terrance was an undercover narcotics detective, homicide detective, and Chief of Police for Frazer Township in Allegheny County. He was in law enforcement for a total of 47 years. He was a 1974 graduate of Highlands High School. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police 39, Lower Burrell, Pollock Lodge #502, Tarentum Masons, Western PA Chiefs of Police Association, Allegheny County Chiefs of Police, Tarentum Eagles, and Slovak Club, Creighton. Terrance was passionate about staying connected to the community. He helped many people throughout his storied career. He was a music lover, an animal lover, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends on his boat. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Patricia R. (Faber) Kuhns, of Tarentum; daughter, Shannon Kuhns, of New Kensington. Also surviving are his siblings, Thomas A. (RoseAnn) Kuhns, Jr., of Fawn Twp., Timothy A. (Janice) Kuhns, of Tarentum, Karen A. (Jeffrey) Marietti, of Tarentum; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen C. 'Dolly' Hunt. Visitation will be held Thursday, 2-8 p.m. in DUSTER FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 347 E 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Frank M. Yesko, officiating. Pollock Lodge 502, Tarentum Masons, will hold services in the funeral home on Thursday, at 6 p.m. followed by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 39 at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp.
