Robert C. Hoffer, 84, of Madison, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Transitions Healthcare in North Huntingdon, PA, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 11, 1939, in Arona, PA. Son of the late Arthur J. and Pearl (Higgins) Hoffer. Bob was a graduate of the former Sewickley Township High School Class of 1957. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was trained as a paratrooper. He was a lifetime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Arona, PA, and a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 354. Bob worked and retired from Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 354 after 41 years of service. He enjoyed hunting turkey, deer, and bears at the family camp, 'Camp Independence', in Potter County. He loved the outdoors and grew a garden every year. Bob had a dry sense of humor. He enjoyed watching old westerns, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates on television, as well as basketball games at the Yough Senior High School. Bob played softball, bowled, and was on a golf league. He is preceded in death by both parents; loving wife of 60 years, Judith A. (Spoonhoward) Hoffer; great-grandson, Sage; brother, Alan 'Jake' Hoffer; and sisters, Jean Ritenour, Elsie Johnston, and Mae Reamer. He is survived by sons, Dave Hoffer of Madison, PA, Eric (Sharon) Hoffer of Adamsburg, PA, and Greg Hoffer of West Newton, PA; sister, Edna (Keith) Zimmerman of Arona, PA; brothers, Thomas Joseph (Carol) Hoffer of Arona, PA; grandchildren, Samantha, Justin, Matthew, Benjamin, Joshua, Richard, Dylan, Nicholas, Tiffany, and Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Savannah, Olivia, Brooks, Nickolas, Julian, Jaxson, Amelia, Brandon, and Jason. Friends will be received Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME, INC., Route 136 Madison, PA 15663, Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. L. Sam Scheiderer officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA.
