It’s that weird time between Christmas and New Year’s when we all subsist on cheese and chocolate and anything past the front door seems like it’s a hundred miles away. But while all of your friends are still in town and you have some downtime, why not get up, put on something nice, and see what’s going on in the city? Here are a few events to tempt you.

Bobby Brown

Heinz Hall will host this rescheduled show with ’80s and ’90s R&B star Bobby Brown, known for songs including “My Prerogative” and his work with group New Edition.

In addition to Brown, this show will feature performers Jagged Edge and Ginuwine. The latter will host a special VIP meet and greet after the show.

The performance will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at Heinz Hall in Downtown Pittsburgh. Get tickets at pittsburghsymphony.org.

Jubilee Opening Mass

2025 is a Jubilee Year for Roman Catholics, and its start heralds a year of celebration and spiritual reflection. The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh will kick off the year with a special Mass at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland this weekend.

The celebration will begin at the gym of Oakland Catholic High School with a reading from the papal bull. That will be followed by a candlelight procession to the cathedral. Bishop David Zubik will celebrate the Mass, with a special ritual from the Vatican.

The event will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday. To learn more, visit diopitt.org.
