Friends of South Side Park will be hosting this years Goat Fest PGH in the heart of South Side Park!

Running for the seventh year, Goat Fest will celebrate the work of Allegheny GoatScape goats in maintaining South Side Park's natural beauty, bringing together volunteers and community members one goat at a time.

In an official press release sent to the Trib by Jamie Balser, chairman of Friends of South Side Park; the employment of these goats to "munch on invasive plants, followed by dedicated volunteers who perform additional clean up and plant native flora, South Side Park has seen a real transformation" since the start of Goat Fest PGH.

The release further states how since the beginning of the fest, "over 2,000 native trees and shrubs have been planted in the park," reducing risks of landslides and erosion, and "enhancing the overall air quality" within the park.

This years events will offer an array of activities for any and all ages.

Visitors can indulge in their love for goats, hike local trails and check out over 40 artisan market vendors.

Goat Fest PGH will take place on July 27 and run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
