Jack A. Wells, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Born on Aug. 2, 1939, in Mount Pleasant, the son of the late William C. 'Buzz' and Ada M. Lumpkins Wells, who died Jan. 31, 1984, and Dec. 16, 1983, respectively. Jack's early life in Mt. Pleasant laid the foundation for a man who would become known for his loving nature, adventurous spirit, and handy skills. He was a devoted family man, a cherished friend, and a respected member of the community. Jack's work ethic was evident through his more than four decades of dedicated service at Duraloy Technologies, of Scottdale, where he was in the maintenance division. Jack was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, with SVC BTRY 3D HOW BN 17th ARTY APO 281 serving from Feb. 1, 1957, until Jan. 31, 1963, attaining the rank of E-3. Throughout his life, Jack found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was a man who loved to work with his hands, whether it was tinkering in his garage or building dune buggies that he proudly rode. Jack's love for the outdoors extended to fishing, horseback riding, and camping. Jack's love for his family was boundless. He was a guiding light to his daughters, Darla A. Barnes and her husband, Thomas, of Bonita Springs, FL, and Karen M. Lind and her husband, Earl, of Scottdale. His grandchildren, Justin Barron of Mount Pleasant, Cody Smouse and his wife, Brittani, of Scottdale, and Heaven Wells Cooper and her husband, Jordan, of TX. His great-grandchildren, Tyler Barron, Bentley Barron, Chevy Cooper, Brentley Wells, and Cayden Wells. Jack's legacy is one of love and commitment, as he was a devoted husband to his late wife, Florence M. Kiliany Wells, who preceded him in death on September 6, 2018. His love for family extended to his late son, Jack A. Wells, who passed away on August 26, 2024, and his grandson, Doug Wells, who left this world too soon on October 6, 2021. Jack now joins them, along with his parents, in eternal peace. Jack's family and friends will remember him for the 'union' meetings they shared, the laughter that filled his garage, and the camaraderie that comes with long-standing friendships. Family and friends of Jack are cordially invited from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME, INC., 417 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, PA 15683, at which time his Funeral Service will be held with Pastor Jason Kramer, Officiating.
