Thomas Hauger went to heaven on July 2, 2024, shortly after a cancer diagnosis. The son of C. William and Trudy (Kemerer) Hauger, he was born on Jan. 10, 1954, in Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Scott William Hauger. Tom believed that God and family were the most important things in life, and his everyday actions reflected those beliefs. He was a kind and nurturing soul who poured patience, love and wisdom into his family, especially his seven grandchildren, who lovingly called him 'Pappy.' Tom leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Kristen Fisher Hauger of 47 years; beloved father of Andy Hauger, his wife, April, and their children, Tommy, Cora, Charlotte and Jacob (Greensburg); daughter, Beth Silowash, her husband, Ryan and their children, Lucas, Zachariah and Matthew (Delmont); sister, Kathy Hauger of CO; in-laws, Kathy (Jeff) Hunter and Karen (Pat) Petrarca; and nephew, Aaron Petrarca. Tom was known for his exceptional thriftiness and insights in all aspects of life and had a work ethic which was second to none. Overall, he lived simply, enjoying household work, road trips, cutting grass and other outdoor tasks. Tom retired from Greater Latrobe School District, where he worked as a truck driver in the Food Service Department. He also worked many other jobs, including being custodian at Charter Oak Church, mowing Fairmont Cemetery in Stahlstown, where he also served as president for the cemetery board. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Latrobe Hospital's in-patient hospice team and suggests a donation in Tom's memory to Charter Oak Church Crossroads Campus in lieu of flowers. Family and friends were received on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the SNYDER-GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 402 E. Church St., Ligonier, 15658. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Hartland officiating. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
