Jeffrey Donald Canfield, 66, of Lower Burrell, died Friday, June 28, 2024. He was born in Pittsburgh on June 29, 1957, to Kathryn Jean Seibel Canfield of Morningside and the late Donald Raymond Canfield. He was a member of Member of Rotary Club of Lawrenceville as well as many national industry associations/groups. Jeff (the/ref) loved watching his kids and later grandkids play sports, from Adam and Craig's roller hockey at the Ches-A-Rena to Crista's volleyball at Seton Hill to Caden's ice hockey all over the eastern US and more recently the local fields and gyms for Kyla, Landon, and Maddox. Hockey was by far his favorite sport. He was a devoted Penguins fan and an even more devoted coach, both formally behind the bench when his boys were young and very informally but just as passionately from the stands later in life as a founding member of the Traveling Pappys with his best friend T-bone. After retiring as the Ches-A-Rena's all time leader in stay-at-home minutes, he successfully transitioned to a career as a referee, which really came in handy at home as he could walk into a room often with minimal background/context immediately identify the guilty party and implement law and order. This skillset was second only to that which made him an incredible salesman: he could sell an icebox to an Eskimo, an SCT-4XD Digitizer weighing system to your grandma, or the 'Flyers Stink' shirt off of his back to the philthiest of Philly fans. He also truly enjoyed passing on his industry knowledge to the next generation. Our family's comic relief, we will forever cherish and miss his stories, commentary and pappy hacks, but his daughter Crista needed him more than we did for now. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Tomsik Canfield; sons, Craig (Brittany) Canfield, and Adam (Ashley) Canfield both of Lower Burrell; grandchildren, Caden, Kyla, Landon, and Maddox Canfield; and sister, Terri (Bob) Canfield of Shaler. Besides his father he was preceded in death by his daughter, Crista Canfield on Feb. 28, 2024.
