Nine Fox Chapel Area seniors were honored Nov. 29 during the 61st annual Medallion Ball at the Pittsburgh Wyndham Grand Hotel.
Claire Feczko, Brooke Fenton, Claire Auffenberg, Bella Urso, Ridglee Boychuk, Maria Stiger, Ava Persichetti, Ainsley Anderson and Ava Condron were recognized for their minimum of 150 hours of volunteer hours since the eighth grade.
Sponsored annually by St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind since 1964, the Medallion Ball celebrates young women who have completed the junior medallion program by making impactful contributions to their community through volunteer service.
They were awarded the Joan of Arc Medallion by the Bishop David Zubik of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.
Medallion candidates must be 19 or younger, be of recognized moral and spiritual standing and be at least in her senior year of high school at the time of her presentation.
Girls of all faiths are encouraged to participate.
Volunteer service includes helping at a community library, volunteering with a nonprofit, serving in a nursing home, participating in weekly religious service activities, attending mission trips and working as a camp counselor at camps that serve the underprivileged.
