The Sharpsburg Parks and Recreation Commission and Sharpsburg-Aspinwall Rotary once again are partnering to present a tasty weekly fundraiser.

Funnel Cake Fridays returns to Kennedy Park this month.

The event was founded many years ago by the Sharpsburg-Aspinwall Rotary Club as a way to raise money and bring people together on Fridays in June.

The borough’s parks and recreation commission joined the club’s effort four years ago to give it a boost and draw more people to the park.

It is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. each Friday in June with each night having a different theme.

Various activities and live entertainment are planned for each evening.

This Friday, June 5, will be Rotarian Night with proceeds benefiting Coins for Alzheimer’s Research.

Musician Paul Eisert will play some classic rock favorites.

June 12 will be a Touch-a-Truck with multiple vehicles. including heavy machinery from public works and emergency vehicles from local police, fire and EMS.

Musician Donna Occhipinti will cover classic and modern rock favorites from Stevie Nicks to Taylor Swift.

June 19 will be a Pride celebration. Musician David Hipchen will cover some 1990s indie rock classics.

The final night will be a Juneteenth Celebration. Vocalist Deborah Hollis will perform.

Organizers said the Juneteenth Celebration was postponed a week because of scheduling issues with participants.

Commission President Mallory Helbling said more details will be shared each week closer to the events.
