Robert Graham Mertz, 80, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, in the AHN Forbes Health System. He was born Oct. 4, 1943, in Greensburg, a son of the late Warren G. and Ruth Huhn Mertz. Bob retired as a corporal from the Pennsylvania State Police Department and was a member of the Reclamation Church in Monroeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ella "Becky" Lewis. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Maryjane Lesnick Mertz; two children, Kimberly Mikolowsky (David), of Winter Garden, Fla., and Robert A. Mertz (Laurie), of Henderson, Tenn.; two stepchildren, Charles Gates (Pamela), of Harrison City, and Craig Gates (Tracy), of Eighty-Four; five grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Mikolowsky, Courtney Mikolowsky, Bobby Mertz and Nolan Gates and Myria Gates; two sisters, Patricia Eberly (Gary), of Englewood, Fla., and Kathryn Grimm (Fred), of McClellandtown; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends were invited to celebrate the life of Robert Thursday, with a service with Pastor Jeremiah Canfield officiating, in the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, 724 863-8900. The Pennsylvania State Police conducted a service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Humane Society of Westmoreland County.
