Wenzle E. (Bud) Kunkle, 90, of Jones Mills, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Bud was born December 21, 1933. He was the son of Emory W. and Florence Barron Kunkle. He was raised on a small farm in Donegal Township and began working at U. S. Steel Edgar Thomson Works when he was 20 years old. He retired after 40 years of service as a steel pourer. Bud was the owner of Kunkle's Antique Shop for 40 plus years. He was well known and respected for his wood working and refinishing expertise and skills. Our Dad was hard working, honest, and a devout Christian. He read and studied his Bible daily and followed the Word. His love for Jesus was evident to all that knew him. He was a life long member of the Valley Brethren Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. His entire life was spent in the Jones Mills area, where he was well known and respected. His hobbies included planting and harvesting his large garden each year, tractors, and many specialty wooden projects. He took pride in his home and property. He got great satisfaction in life watching his garden grow and sharing the vegetables he grew. He enjoyed simple things in life, such as holding his wife's hand as he watched the birds at the feeders, the squirrels, turkeys, and deer that visited his property. He is survived by his loving wife, Mabel Kunkle; and his children, Emory Kunkle (Cathy), Cathy Szelong (Bob), Neil Kunkle (Jackie); step-children, Richard Stahl (Eva-Ellen), Daviette White (Rob), and Greg Stahl (Renee). Bud's family also included eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, 25 great-step-grandchildren, and three great-great-step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Cecelia Hauger (Keith). He also had many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alverta "Dolly" (Keslar); sisters, Dorothy Gregor, Rosella DeWitt; and brother, Roy Kunkle. Private Funeral Services were held for the family.
