Arthur Eugene Caramella, 86, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully on Aug. 9, 2024, at Redstone Highlands in Greensburg in hospice care. Born May 19, 1938, in Ridgewood NJ, Art was one of two children to the late William J. Caramella and Mafalda (Benedetto) Caramella. Art lived a life filled with adventure, service, and a deep love for his family. He attended Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, NJ Class of 1956. He attended Cornell University in New York and graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont in 1961. After college, Art served his country in the US Army as a First Lieutenant, General Adjutant Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was also stationed in Pakistan on special assignment. Art met Sheila Gill of Junction City, Kansas while serving at Fort Riley, Kansas. They married on May 30, 1964, in Junction City, KS. His career in the plastics industry began with Container Corp. of America in the New York area. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where he was co-owner of Classic Industries. Throughout his career, Art demonstrated exceptional salesmanship and an ability to build strong relationships. He held the craftsmen and women he worked with in the highest regard. A generous and compassionate soul, Art was known for his ability to put people at ease. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, where he served as deacon and elder/trustee. He also served on the boards of Redstone Highlands and the Greensburg Library and was a dedicated holiday volunteer for the Salvation Army. Art was a voracious reader, but his true passion in life was fly fishing. He fished all over the world, including in Patagonia, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and in much of the United States. He was happiest in a river with a fly rod in hand. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Gill Caramella of Greensburg, his children, Amy Caramella (Anthony Lorenz) of Bellingham, WA, and William R.
