David Elwood Magill, formerly of Irwin, PA, went to be with his beloved Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Fishers, IN. He was born Sept. 9, 1927, to David R. Magill and Emma McIntyre. He was preceded by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lorella J. (Loughner) Magill; and by two brothers, Paul Magill and Thomas Magill. He is survived by his two daughters, Diane (Randall) Shreckengast of State College, PA, and Barbara (Jerry) Paladin of Fishers, IN; grandchildren, Ryan, Seth, Vincent, Emily and Jason; along with numerous great-grandchildren. David was a man who served others. He was devoted to his family, his community, and his country. His service included a stint in the Army as an infantryman, in WWII in Germany, being a board member of the local community bank, and being a long-time church member. He and his brothers ran Lincoln Coach Lines, the bus and charter company started by their father that served the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh for many decades. He lent his business experience and expertise to his local church by serving as a trustee during a major building project that allowed the church to grow and eventually reach thousands in the community. But David may best be known as the wonderful father of two girls who created a loving, safe and happy home life for his family. The Magill home always had the welcome mat out for friends. David rarely talked about himself but was quick to engage others in conversation, asking thoughtful questions to learn more about others, instead. You didn't have to know David very long before you felt comfortable around him. With David, you knew you had been heard and your story mattered to him. Men like him are rare, and he will be deeply missed. No public viewing or services will be held. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
