Register for Halloween parade
Hampton’s annual Halloween parade will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19 at Hampton Community Park.
Featured will be a costume contest for children 10 years of age and under, along with candy, cookies and treats for all. To plan for adequate supplies for the participants, walk-in registration will not be accepted for the event.
Additional activities include a haunted hayride through the upper orchard of the park, Build-A-Bear raffle and photo booth. Hampton police officers, firefighters and emergency service personnel will be present.

Museum hosts events
The Depreciation Lands Museum in Hampton will host the Hydref Market Faire from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5.
Hydref, an annual fall festival, celebrates the harvest season with crafts, vendors and hands-on activities for all ages, as guests experience the sights, sounds and tastes of an early American village.
Tickets are on sale for the museum’s “Lantern Tours: The Deacon’s Tales.” Step into the shadows on Oct. 19 for an evening of storytelling, where the past comes to life in the most haunting way.
Beggars Day, the final event of the season, is scheduled for Oct. 27 at the museum. Children are invited to dress up and enjoy some Halloween fun as they trick-or-treat through the village.

Register for HAEE 5K Race
The Hampton Alliance for Educational Excellence’s 32nd annual 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place starting at 8 a.m. Oct. 13 at Hampton Community Park.
The race starts at 9. Custom awards will be given to the top male and female runners in each age category: 10 and under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus.
HAEE, a volunteer-run nonprofit, grants thousands of dollars to enrich the educational experience in each of Hampton’s schools, including programs for the advancement of technology in the curriculum, hands-on inventive learning in all academic areas through special programs, and added support for special needs, physical education and the arts.

National Merit honors
Two Hampton High School seniors have been named as semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship program.
Carolyn Clutter and Nathan Gardner were among the more than 16,000 semifinalists in the program’s 70th year. They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring.
