Worship service at Hartwood Acres

Five local Presbyterian churches will combine for an outdoor worship service on Aug. 4 at the Hartwood Acres Amphitheater.

Hampton, Elfinwild, Glenshaw, Glenshaw Valley and Parkwood churches will lead the worship service at 10 a.m. Bring a blanket and/or lawn chair, and come early for a pre-worship concert beginning at 9:30.

Ingomar Garden Club

The Ingomar Garden Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 7 in the picnic pavilion at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 4106 St. Thomas Drive, Richland.

The business meeting will be followed by guest speaker Brian Golgan, owner of Pondering LLC, discussing ways to add a pond or water feature to your landscape. Bring a brown-bag lunch. Desserts and water will be provided. Prospective members are invited.

Mt. Royal Blvd. work

PennDOT District 11 is conducting improvement work on Mt. Royal Boulevard in Hampton and Shaler.

Single-lane alternating traffic restrictions with flaggers will occur on Mt. Royal Boulevard between Route 8 and Grant Avenue weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late October.

The $11.89 million job includes milling and paving, base repair, and drainage improvements.

St. Barnabas hosts 5K

St. Barnabas Charities will host its 33rd annual Free Care 5K on Aug. 3 presented by CIBC Bank USA.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. at the St. Barnabas Gibsonia campus on Meridian Road in Richland. Everyone is invited to run or walk.

Proceeds support the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which affords $6 million in care to patients and residents each year.

Competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, stroller pushers and wheelchair racers of all ages can enjoy a rolling 3.1-mile course. A post-race party will be featuring raffle prizes, food and an awards ceremony.

Outdoor concert series

Highpointe at Rebecca is hosting a free summer concert series at 1871 Highpointe Lane, West Deer.

The concerts will be held in our outdoor courtyard, weather permitting, or indoors if necessary. Tours of the campus will be available for an hour before each performance. Scheduled to perform are:

• The Highlife Band, 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 15. Playing together for over a decade, the HighLife Band takes audiences on a journey through well-known songs of the ’60s and ’70s all the way up to today. Enjoy music from the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Tom Petty and more.

• Miss Freddye’s Homecookin’ Band, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 27. The award-winning singer will perform a diverse musical repertoire, including blues, gospel, rock and a touch of country and bluegrass. She will be accompanied by her acoustic band.
