‘Madama Butterfly’
Pittsburgh Opera will mount this groundbreaking new production of a Puccini classic this weekend (and next, in case you want to see it again!).
In this iteration, which features an all-Japanese and Japanese-American creative team, the tragic love story is told through virtual reality and other cutting edge narrative interpretations.

Women Who Rock fundraiser
This weekend, Sing Sing Sing! will hold an afternoon performance at City Winery Pittsburgh in the Strip District to benefit Women Who Rock.
Sing Sing Sing! offers vocal lessons in the Pittsburgh area and will bring its talented students to perform classics by legendary divas at this vocal concert. Women Who Rock is an organization that promotes women in music and women’s healthcare.

The Mattress Factory exhibit opening
Artist-in-residence Marc Vilanova will open a solo exhibition at contemporary art museum The Mattress Factory with a reception on Friday.
This exhibition concentrates on expanded sculpture and urges viewers to listen and be open to parts of the world that are often ignored.
The reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mattress Factory on the North Side. The event is free and open to all. There is limited off-street parking, but additional street parking is available in the neighborhood around the museum. Learn more at mattress.org.
Sip and Swirl at the zoo
Taste delicious wines while supporting the conservation programs at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. The Friday night soiree takes place at the Aquarium and Water’s Edge habitats at the Highland Park zoo.
Each $75 ticket ($70 for members) includes wine tastings from local and national wineries, hors d’oeuvres, live music, small animal encounters and an auction of animal-created art. Make sure to wear comfy shoes!

Open up to the passion and fire of flamenco music and dance with Flamenco Pittsburgh’s Evening Tablao performance this weekend. This show will take place on Sunday at the Original Pittsburgh Winery.
The show in such an intimate space will amaze with world-class performers — and some excellent wine available to go with it. The show features vocalists, guitarists and dancers.
