John P. Kelly, 91, of Norvelt, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 14, 2024 at Hempfield Manor. Born March 31, 1933 in Brinkerton, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Anna (Wassil) Kelly. John was a member of St. Florian Parish for 91 years and served on Parish Council for 17 years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine 'Kay' (McKenna) Kelly; one son, Thomas P. Kelly of Sarasota, FL.; one grandson, Patrick R. Kelly of Greensburg, PA as well as many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. John was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret R. Yurcovic (Tom); Anna K. 'Betty' Yothers (Tom); and one infant brother. John was a U.S. Army veteran serving 2 years during the Korean War. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant VFW for more than 70 years and the AMVETS since 2009. John was employed by the Hockensmith Corporation in Penn; Elliott Company, Jeannette; and Allegheny Power, Cabin Hill, Greensburg and drove a school bus for Mt. Pleasant Township for 18 years. Family and friends will be received on Thursday May, 16th from 4 to 8pm at the HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME (formerly Jay A Hoffer Funeral Home) 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd. Norvelt, PA 15674. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Fr. John A. Sedlak on Friday May 17th at 10am at St Florian Catholic Church, United, PA 15666, followed by a military burial at St. Vincent Cemetery Mausoleum, 300 Fraser Purchase Rd. Latrobe, PA 15650.
