Mary M. (Shiring) Shaner, 93, of Allegheny Township, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Concordia at Cabot. A daughter of the late Boyd A. Shiring and Johanna (Cross) Shiring, she was born October 20, 1930 in Kittanning, PA. Mary was a homemaker who had also worked for a time at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights. She was a devout Catholic and member of Christ The King Church in Gilpin Township. As a very active participant in her community, she volunteered for over 30 years, with the Lower Kiski Ambulance Service as an EMT, and taught CPR classes through the American Red Cross. Mary was also a member of the Leechburg Rotary for over 25 years, Leechburg Elks Auxiliary, the Kiski Area Band Boosters, and was involved in many other local organizations through the years. Mary spent a lifetime of caring and giving. She was always the first to offer help to others. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, baking, cooking, dining out, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, David A. Shaner (Claudia) of MA, Sharon K. Lenkner of Pittsburgh, Jennifer L. Chvilicek (Kenneth) of Seven Fields; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Shaner of Gilpin Township; six grandchildren, Matthew Shaner, Kayla Magdinec (Ben), Zachary and Sarah Lenkner, Jada and Lucas Chvilicek; two great-grandchildren, Haylee and Aaron Shaner; a brother Jim Shiring of Ford City; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Shaner in 1980; a son, Timothy A. Shaner; brothers, Vincent, Edward, Jack and Joe Shiring; sisters, Kathryn Perpich and Evelyn Edwards. Friends will be welcomed by her family on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. at the CLAWSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 7, at Christ The King Church, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Township, with the Rev. Alan N. Polczynski as celebrant. Everyone is requested to go directly to the church on Friday. Interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
