Joyce (Bergvall) Taylor, 73, of Greensburg, passed away June 27, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family. Joy was born Jan. 12, 1951, in Greensburg Hospital and raised in Hannastown, PA. She was the daughter of the late Margaretta (Sphon) and Verner Reynolds Bergvall. She married Thomas Taylor on April 15, 1972, at Saint Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, PA. She was a member of Saint Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg, PA, where she was a yearly festival volunteer. She was a 1968 graduate of Hempfield Area High School and the Greensburg Beauty Academy, where she earned her beautician and teaching cosmetology licenses. Prior to getting married, she worked at Troutman's Department Store as a salesclerk and then at Royer's in the wig department in Greensburg, PA and Greengate Mall, respectively. Joy was very active with the West Point Elementary School, serving numerous times as home room mother and as the creator and editor of the school monthly newsletter for several years. In her earlier years, Joy loved to sew, making clothes for her children and craft items, which were given to family and friends. Throughout her life, she loved to cook and bake and was always trying out new recipes. She always loved and had a real talent for decorating the interior and exterior of her home year-round. The decorations were always changing, and many were of her own creation. Joy loved to shop, especially for interior decoration items, clothing and toys for her children and, in later years, her grandchildren. She enjoyed providing a loving home for cats and receiving handmade items and poems from her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Della and Ralph Taylor of Youngstown, PA. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Taylor; and daughter, Kandace Taylor both of Greensburg, PA; son, David (Sarah) Taylor; and grandsons, Brennan Taylor, Dylan Taylor, all of Penn Township, PA. Joy is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Batsa of Youngstown, PA; nephews, Stephen (Sara) Batsa of Reading, PA, and Matt (Kelly) Batsa; and great-nephews, Gage and Brody Batsa, all of Unity Township, PA; and numerous cousins. She will also be missed by her cat, Chloe. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, in St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg. Please go directly to the church.
