International Day of Peace
The Rotary Club of Monroeville is coordinating an International Day of Peace event from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 23 at Monroeville Park West, 2399 Tilbrook Road.
Featured will be ethnic food trucks, cultural music, free Kona Ice and family activities. Feel free to wear your ethnic attire and bring your family and friends as the community comes together to create a brighter future for all.

Church hosts community concert
Monroeville United Methodist Church, 219 Center Road, will host a concert by the Pittsburgh Renaissance City Choir at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 1.
The concert is free. A love offering will be taken. Doors open at noon.
The Renaissance City Choir affirms and celebrates LGBTQIA+ identity through the unifying power of music. RCC is western Pennsylvania’s only LGBTQIA+ and allies choral group, and seeks to build bridges with the community at large.
The programming blends challenging contemporary music, commissions of new works, an ambitious traditional repertoire, and music from various world cultures.

Meet and greet candidates
Due to illness, the scheduled meet and greet for Monroeville Council Ward 2 candidate Tim Lionelli is rescheduled to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at Fred Carlson’s home, 118 Monticello Drive.All ward voters regardless of party affiliation are invited.
Two Monroeville municipal council candidates and four Gateway School Board candidates invite all voters to a free meet and greet from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2 at La Barbe Restaurant, 4397 Old William Penn Highway.
The municipal council candidates are Tim Lionelli in Ward 2 and William Krut in Ward 4. The school board candidates are Cheryl Boise, George Lapcevich, Kelly Matrazzo and John Ritter.
No RSVP is required for either event, and refreshments will be provided.
DooWop music and dance
St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 2110 Haymaker Road, Monroeville will hold a DooWop Music and Dance event on Sept. 30. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Free cancer screening
Allegheny Health Network Cancer Institute will host a free cancer screening event on Sept. 30 at Premier Medical Associates, 3824 Northern Pike, Suite 200, Monroeville. The screening is open to the public, and health insurance is not required.
Registration closes Sept. 20, or until all appointments have been filled. Reservations must be made by calling 412-359-6665.
Divine Mercy craft show
A fall craft and vendor show is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 7 at Divine Mercy Academy, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville.
More than 100 vendors on two floors will be featured, along with delicious homemade food and more.
Library hosts trivia night
Monroeville Public Library will host a trivia night on Sept. 23, with doors opening at 6 o’clock and the game starting at 7, for participants ages 21 and older.
There will be a cash prize of $100 for the first-place team and $50 for second. Light snacks and drinks are included in the ticket price. There will also be food available for purchase, including a nacho bar and bake sale table. Tickets for a variety of raffle baskets and for a 50/50 drawing will be for sale.
At intermission will be a separate bonus trivia game with a prize for the winning table.

Hillcrest yard sale
A yard sale featuring baked goods and crafts is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 23 at Hillcrest United Presbyterian Church, 1622 James St., Monroeville.
Food pantry distributions
The Garden City Food Pantry distributes food on the second Thursday of each month, with morning distribution from 9 to 11 and evening distribution from 6 to 7.
Upcoming distributions are Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 at 500 Laurel Drive, Monroeville.
