Tekko 2024

Anime fans from all over the region will come together throughout the weekend at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center for Tekko 2024.

The convention will feature gaming, exhibitions, photo opportunities, fashion, karaoke, and tons of specific-interest events over the weekend. Hours of operation are 9:30 a.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, 9:30 a.m. Saturday to 1:30 a.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Vibes Under the Bridge at the Waterfront

Head over to the Waterfront this Saturday for music, refreshments and fun. Vibes Under the Bridge will bring music to the space between Primanti’s and Barnes & Noble under the Homestead Grays Bridge.

From 5 to 9 p.m., local acts The Altered Egos and Ruff House will be performing. There will also be a cash only beer garden for those 21+, provided by Primanti Bros., at the event.

Phipps Conservatory Tropical Forest Hawai’i Festival

Get in the island spirit with a festival celebrating the culture and plant life of Hawai’i at Phipps Conservatory in Oakland this Saturday.

Admission to the festival is covered by paid admission to the Conservatory. It will include Hawai’ian refreshments, a performance from 2 to 3 p.m. by Steel City Ukeleles, kids’ crafts, demonstrations, raffles and a chance to view the Conservatory’s Tropical Forest Hawai’i exhibit.

The Flaming Lips at Stage AE

Grammy-winning indie rock band The Flaming Lips will bring their music to Stage AE on the North Shore this Saturday night. The band, known for songs including “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots,” has been making music for decades and touring their big, spectacular shows for just as long.

Let’s Sing Taylor at City Winery
