David "Red" Clyde Borland, 80, of West Deer Twp., passed away on May 21, 2024. David was born on April 18, 1944. He was raised in the cities of Pittsburgh and East Liberty and graduated from Connelly Trade School. David was a member of Bakerstown United Methodist Church, Gibsonia, PA, and was a proud Navy veteran from 1962-1964. He was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis aboard the USS Intrepid CVS11. He was Exalted Ruler 1983/84 at the Etna Elks 932, Elk of the Year in 1985, a Life Member of Oakmont Elks 1664, and a Life Member of the Mars VFW 7505. Dave retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Gibsonia, with 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working around the house, and traveling. He had a huge passion for serving and honoring our veterans by volunteering at the Butler VA. Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and loving wife, Sally A. (Koedel) Borland. David is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and cousin, Carol Weaver. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Walter P. and Louise M. (Anderson) Borland; brothers, Donald H. (Evelyn, surviving) Borland of Tampa, FL, James P. (Arlene, surviving) Borland of Pittsburgh, PA; and sister, Francine M. (Edward, surviving) Dodson of Wesley Chapel, FL. Friends and family will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2022, at ELOISE B. KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A funeral service will be held the following day at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Keith A. Dunn. Interment and military honors to follow in Mt. Royal Cemetery.
