Martha G. Rhodes, 74, of Scottdale, East Huntingdon Township, passed away at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Independence Health System's Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Martha was born March 5, 1950, in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late George and Nora Belle (Vinsek) Mamula. She married Barry E. Rhodes on July 22, 1972. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, Class of 1968, and continued her professional studies at the University of Pittsburgh and at Saint Vincent College. Martha retired on Sept. 1, 2005, after working for 42 years as a medical technician at Excela Heath System's Latrobe Hospital. She was a faithful member of the Mount Pleasant Church of God, where she previously served as a deaconess and was a member, along with her husband, at the Bullskin Township Senior Citizens. Martha enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, and taking vacations to the beach! Martha will be sadly missed by her loving family; her husband of 52 years, Barry E. Rhodes; her three children, Melanie Halsted, Danielle Halsted and husband Chad, and Dana Moore and husband James; her five grandchildren, Emily Halsted, Noah Halsted, Trinity Moore, Jacob Halsted, and Nathaniel Moore; her stepbrother, Allen Lee Vinsek of Kecksburg; her stepsister, Karen Miller and husband Tim of Kecksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her natural parents, she was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Frank and Janet (Zufall) Vinsek; her two sisters, Nora McKlveen and Margaret Downs; and her stepsister, Joan Dean.
