Divine Mercy Academy hosted its fifth annual Saber Summer Cheer Camp from June 15-18 in the Lourdes Center on the Monroeville campus.
Thirty students in grades K-5 participated in the camp, including 10 youths from other schools.
The theme of this year’s camp was Fun in the Sun. The students learned skills, cheers and a dance while building teamwork, confidence and friendships.
On the fourth night, the cheerleaders performed the new routines for their friends and families and enjoyed a visit from the Kona Ice truck.
The campers were able to showcase their skills while marching with Divine Mercy Academy and Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish in Monroeville’s 4th of July Parade. They also will open the entertainment for the school and parish’s summer festival on July 16.
The festival will run from 5 to 10 p.m. through July 18 on the St. Bernadette campus at 245 Azalea Drive in Monroeville. There will be live entertainment every night, special guest appearances from local mascots, raffle baskets, games for children and adults, inflatables, food and drinks.
