Murrysville public works crews are finishing up preparation work as the municipality’s summer paving program gets underway.

“We’ve been working on that for about three or four months,” Murrysville Public Works Director Bill Paiano said.

In addition to preparation, public works staff has been working to address potholes as winter has warmed up into spring.

“We stay on them constantly,” Paiano said. “Throughout the winter we have someone going out daily to keep after those.”

The $1.5 million summer paving program, part of Murrysville’s overall capital improvements plan, will center around work on Sardis Road, according to Paiano.

“That’s the major one, with paving happening between Mamont and Old William Penn roads,” he said. Just under 3.2 miles of Sardis Road will be paved. Sardis was last included in the paving program in 2018.

Other major paving projects under consideration include:

• 3,500 feet of Twin Oaks Drive.

• 4,435 feet of Ringertown Road between Route 66 and Old William Penn Highway, along with sections of Faulk Drive and Ringer Avenue in the same neighborhood.

• 2,170 feet of Trefoil Drive frmo School Road to Broomsage Court.

• Just over 2,100 feet of Millstream Court from School Road to Treesdale Court.

• 1,380 feet of Newton Court from School Road to the cul-de-sac.

• Smaller sections of Wilson Road, Treesdale Court, Laurel Drive, Roselyn Drive, Magnolia Drive, Timothy Drive and Elmwood Drive.

Murrysville engineers and Paiano surveyed the roads during the spring warm-up to determine which were most in need of repair.
