Lawrence J. Martonik, 83, of Murrysville, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Brookdale Retirement Community, Export. He was born January 8, 1941 in Tarentum to the late John and Anna (Meso) Martonik. Lawrence lived in Tarentum and in Murrysville since 1973. He was a metallurgist at U.S. Steel Research in Monroeville and ALCOA in New Kensington for a number of years. He was a member of the former St. Clement Church, now Guardian Angels Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Campus, Natrona Heights. Lawrence graduated from Tarentum High School in 1959 and from Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He enjoyed working on cars, traveling, camping in Erie and bike riding. Lawrence especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, who affectionately called him PePa. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary 'Betsy' (Allgeier) Martonik; son, Mark L. (Rona) Martonik, of Murrysville; daughter-in-law, Kristin (Butler) Martonik; and grandchildren, Alexis, Ashley, Bromley, Brielle and Bryce. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian C. Martonik.
