The swimming pool at North Park will open for the season Saturday, June 13, after being closed for mechanical repairs, according to an update by Allegheny County Parks on Facebook.

The delay was caused by malfunctioning valves, which pushed sediment into the water when the chlorine and filtration systems were turned on.

The county had converted those systems at the 90-year-old pool in McCandless during the off-season. On Monday, officials said they had to order new parts because backflow clouded the water.

The pool will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.

A mechanical lift at North Park’s pool enables guests of all ages and abilities to enter the shallow end. The 2 million-gallon pool has access to a zero-depth baby pool and splash pad area.

The county operates three additional pools, all wave pools, at Boyce Park in Monroeville, Settlers Cabin Park in Robinson and South Park in Bethel Park.

The county also operates spray parks at Deer Lakes Park in West Deer and Round Hill Park in Elizabeth Township.
