Dru Joyce received his first two verbal commitments as Duquesne’s head coach Wednesday when transfer guards Cameron Crawford and Tre Dinkins announced on social media their intentions to enroll this year.

Crawford (6-foot-5) is approaching his redshirt junior season after spending the past three years at Indiana State and Marshall. A native of Hoover, Ala., he scored 20 points off the bench for Marshall on Dec. 6, 2023, in an 85-72 home loss to Duquesne.

He started five games and played in 22 overall as a freshman during the 2021-2022 season for Indiana State, averaging three points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 52.1% from the field (25 of 48) and 42.3% from beyond the 3-point arc (11 of 26). After his redshirt season in 2022-2023, he transferred to Marshall where he averaged 8.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in 24 games (two starts) last season.

Dinkins (6-foot-2) played at Canisius last season, averaging 15.4 points per game and earning third-team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Association honors while appearing 32 games (30 starts). He is the first Canisius player in five years to finish the season with a scoring average greater than 15 points per game.

He scored 17 and 15 points last season in losses to ACC schools Syracuse and Pitt and recorded a season-high 30 in an overtime loss at Rider.

Dinkins, who played at Cardinal O’Hara in Chester, will be a senior this season after playing two years at Canisius and two at Harcum Junior College in Bryn Mawr.
