Carl James Thomas, 82, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville. He was born July 15, 1941, in Greensburg, son of the late George and Rachel (Decker) Thomas. Carl served in the Army from 1959-1962. He worked for many years at WABCO in Wilmerding and Laurel Aluminum in Glassport. He was a lifetime member of the IVFD, a member of the VFW Post No. 781, the Fairmont Hunting Club and enjoyed many years playing on more than 50 softball teams. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth "Betty Ann" (Carrera) Thomas; and his sister, Barbara Filtz. Surviving are his four children, George (Lori) Thomas, Deborah (Michael) Kalp, Cheryl (Keith) Gray and Michael (Jessica) Thomas; six grandchildren, Brandon Kalp, James (Casie) Gray, Nicholas (Brian Hempel) Gray, Joseph Thomas, Carly (Adam) Glasgow, and Bradley Thomas; and four great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ava, Luna and Harley. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Carl from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, 724 863-8900. Parting prayers will be said at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church.
