Teen Book Bundles are available at Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Road, McCandless.
Each bundle contains between two or three books from the library’s teen collection, as well as some other goodies that are yours to keep. The bundles available to check out in the Teen Room at the library.
Adult reading challenge
Stay cozy inside with a good book when you join Cabin Fever, the library’s adult winter reading challenge, starting Jan. 1 and running through Feb. 28.
For every book read, you’ll have a chance to win a prize. Gift card winners will be chosen during the third full week of January and February, with a grand prize drawing at the end. To register, visit northlandlibrary.readsquared.com.

Programs for adults
• Documentary viewing: “The Thief Collector,” 6 p.m. Dec. 5.
In 1985, Willem de Kooning’s oil painting “Woman-Ochre” vanished from the University of Arizona Museum of Art in Tucson. The $160 million work of art remained missing until 2017, when it was found hanging in the former home of Jerry and Rita Alter, a deceased New Mexico married couple. The film features interviews with the Alters’ family members and those involved in the painting’s disappearance and recovery.
Registration is required for the viewing. Snacks will be provided.
• Northland Radio Hour: “Candy Matson and the Jack Frost Case,” Zoom presentation at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12.
See if you can solve this case of Christmas murder with the cast. Registration is required for this virtual program. A Zoom link will be sent the week of the program.
• Holiday Crafts and Carols, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in the library’s upper-level nonfiction section.
The event features holiday music bingo, festive crafts, snacks with a hot chocolate bar, games with prizes, raffles and a scavenger hunt. Registration is required.

Programs for young people
• Mother Goose Tummy Time, 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Dec. 3 and Jan. 21.
Babies 3 to 12 months along with a caregiver are invited to a 20-minute story time, followed by instruction from a physical therapist on how to help babies in their current stage of development. Afterward, enjoy some time to socialize. Registration is required.
• STEAM for Kids, 6 p.m. Jan. 29. Children ages 6 to 11 are invited for some Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math fun. Parents are also invited. Registration is required for each child.
Ongoing programs
• Booked for Lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Friday of each month, popular fiction book discussion group. Email colemank2@northlandlibrary.org to join the group’s email list.

• Mystery Lovers Book Group, 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month. Dec. 19 is Movie Night.
• Dungeons & Dragons on Discord, 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 6.
Teens ages 13 to 18 can sign up at tinyurl.com/DiscDungeon to join the countywide Discord server. You must sign up to join at least a week prior to the game date to play.
• Toddler Time, 10 or 11 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 15, 22, 29 and Feb. 5, 12.
Children ages 12 to 35 months with a caregiver are invited to join Ms. Abby for songs, rhymes and library fun to build important pre-reading and social skills. Registration begins Dec. 15 for the five-week session.
Holiday hours: Northland will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. The library will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 31 and remain closed on New Year’s Day.
