Janet Elaine (Compton) Murphy, 75, of Conemaugh Township, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, in AHN- Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born January 15, 1949, in Indiana, PA, she was a daughter of the late Blaine L. Compton and Florence L. (Tomb) Compton. Janet was a 1966 graduate of Saltsburg High School, and was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, obtaining a Master's Degree in Education. She worked as a teacher for the Blairsville/Saltsburg School District for many years, retiring in May of 2009. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg, where Janet served as a deacon, volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary, taught Sunday School, and guided young lives through Vacation Bible School. Additional memberships include the Saltsburg Historical Society, and the Saltsburg American Legion Post #57 Ladies Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed taking care of her house, mowing the lawn, and gardening. She liked cooking for the holidays and family gatherings, known for her delicious 'Cheesy Potatoes' and lasagna. Janet most loved being with her family and her buddy, her dog Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Murphy, who passed away on August 30, 2020; sister, Virginia Cosgrove; and her brother, Jim Compton. Janet is survived by her sons, Brian P. (Christy) Murphy of Blairsville, and Stephen C. (Beth) Murphy of Greensburg; grandchildren, Lily and Patrick Murphy of Greensburg; step-grandson, Dylan Mack of Wexford; and her beloved dog, Cooper. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, with Pastor Mike Duffalo officiating. Interment in Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Clarksburg, PA.
