One of the coolest things about the City of Pittsburgh, is the rich history. There is a richness of culture, community, talent, and evolution throughout a plethora of Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

From Gus & Yia-Yia's Iceball Stand, selling fresh popcorn and peanuts- to The first World Series that was played at Exposition Park by the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boston Americans. The streets of Pittsburgh were made for walking and the foundation of Pittsburgh history.

And history is continuing to be made.

Longtime Northside basketball court was recently renovated.

The unveiling took place on Saturday August 3, 2024.

"The Jungle Celebration" was a beautiful example of how community can come together to breathe new life into a space rich in history.

Rain or shine people joined at 12:00pm on August 3rd for the unveiling of a mural by Janel Young, which reflects the essence of jazz, the intensity of the jungle, and the spirit of basketball.

A flawless renovation, led by Swisher Dreams, Project Backboard, and a revitalization by Hounds, who delivered a story & full production that brought Pittsburgh together.

Featuring opening emcee Diarra Imani, who will bring this story full circle, and our event host Inez (@frominezwithlove), infusing the energy and excitement The Jungle is known for!

That wasn't all!

Following the court unveiling, the highly anticipated "The Jungle Classic" high school basketball tournament, presented by Mike Dixon & Basketball Dreams, was an undeniable highlight.

You can't have a great event without good food. A variety of eats were available by; Happy Day Dessert Factory, Badamos Pizza, PGH Dumplingz, and Wise County Biscuits.

A screen-printing station will be set up by Air PGH, featuring artwork by Janel Young herself.

A curated event that oozed with Pittsburgh style and flare.
