Phillip W. Moody Sr., 83, of Murrysville, passed peacefully Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Kelly's II personal care home in Latrobe. Phillip was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Hamburg Township, Jackson County, N.C., the youngest son of Walter and Mildred Moody. He graduated Brevard High School, in Brevard, N.C., and attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship. After school, Phillip would work his apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 238, in Asheville, N.C. He would then relocate to Western PA and establish his home in Murrysville while working his adult life and retiring from the IBEW's Local 5 in Pittsburgh. Phillip made his home in Murrysville, where he raised his three children, Phillip Moody II (Tammy Premo-Moody), Shawn Moody (Stephanie Danielle Moody) and Tracey Moody. His passions in life were sports, traveling and dancing. He was a long time member of the Steel City Boogie Club. Phillip was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Robert, and his son, Shawn. He leaves behind his son, Phillip II, daughter, Tracey, four grandsons, two granddaughters, one great-grandson and three great-granddaughters. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date by his family.
