Charles C. Baker, Jr., 61, of Frederick, MD, formerly of Jeannette, PA, passed away on Aug. 1, 2024. He was born Nov. 19, 1962, in Jeannette the son of the late Charles 'Socko' and Shirley (Crescenzo) Baker. Chuck graduated from the St. Vincent College in Latrobe where he majored in English. Charles, Chuck, 'Chuckie' C. Baker, was the center of attention. The life of the party. The kindest friend one could ever have that would put himself out there to sacrifice anything for friends and family. When he would check in with us, he would brighten our day. He was that brief whiff of fresh air that would float in when we all needed that certain 'pick me up,' assuring us he'd help wash away the negativity in our daily lives. He always had a joke for us and loved to make everyone laugh. Although Chuck lived in the MD area for several decades, he was a Pittsburgher through and through. Chuck strived constantly to remain close with his family in the Pittsburgh area, always finding time to make his way home for holidays and birthdays. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved poetry and the rock and the roll mystique of Joe Bonamassa, Pink Floyd, and Tool. He was phenomenal on the drums and we all encouraged him to explore his talents while maintaining his day job. Chuck was a man of many talents and he tried many different things throughout his life. Writing for a local newspaper in VA; trying out stand-up Comedy; performing in a variety of stage performances throughout the '90s and becoming a video game God among his friends. Over the past two decades, Chuck's talent helped expand the use of cellular technology services across the United States. He was a Cell Tower Site Project Manager and Resource Contractor for all the major cell carriers. You can thank Chuck for helping you receive all those cell phone memes and videos at lightning speeds. He was an animal cruelty advocate. He loved pets. We couldn't even get the man to fish because of the harm he thought it inflicted upon them. He cared so much for his pet parakeet 'Steeler' and did so for decades, since the '90s in fact. The two were inseparable and it was so charming to see how that parakeet loved Chuck and how Steeler sang for him out of sheer affection and love. Chuck has an abundance of friends whose lives he touched. We all sense a bright light has gone out far too soon for all that knew him. He leaves us all now to reflect for ourselves the good times we had with him. It is utterly devastating to realize how hard it will be going forward in having to accept that we can no longer expect a text, or a call, or a knock on the door from our friend and beloved companion, Charles C. Baker. Charles is survived by a sister, Charlene Baker; and companion, Eric Yandrich of Pittsburgh; a brother, Chad Baker of FL; and numerous relatives and friends. Friends will be received 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 North 2nd St., Jeannette. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, in the Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Job Foote, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
