Seven months after Irwin officials expected a storefront remodeling project to be complete, they have stopped guessing when the town’s new administrative offices and police headquarters will be finished.

Council President Tyler Baum said Wednesday that he would not offer a timetable for moving the municipal offices from the second floor of the current borough building at 424 Main St. to the new site.

The borough has pressured the general contractor to finish the job correctly, Baum said.

“We’re all anxious to get it done. We want to do it right,” Councilman Sean Stitely said.

Borough officials initially expected the conversion of the former Rosendahl’s Appliance Store into new municipal offices to be finished by the end of 2025. Work on the project began last summer.

Baum attributed the delay to the contractor encountering unforeseen structural issues while remodeling the century-old building.

Graham Construction Co. of Claysville, the general contractor, informed the borough in November that the unanticipated work would delay completion until early April. The project has since seen several change orders because of construction obstacles.

A spokesman for Graham Construction could not be reached for comment Thursday.

A new completion date has not been set, and a grand opening for the facilities has been postponed until August.

Stitely said he wants to do a walkthrough of the offices and police department to check on the progress and see what work remains.
